Sharon and I had chance to visit and talk at length with Judy at the restaurant/club across the street from our 20th Reunion site in 1989, after the main event was completed. It was the longest I'd ever spoken with her and was surprised to learn that she was widowed and was living in San Antonio at the time. She was a very sweet person, and the experience made me regret not taking the time to get to know her better during our high school years.

Judy Sabo... what a beautiful girl in grade school, and a lovely women in High School. She lived down the street from me on Calvary. Cool brothers too. There was tragedy in her life early. One of her parents died young. But Judy never succumb to depression or poor me.
Sure, we may have talked about it in walks home from school. But she only excelled.
Later, in high school she too had a tradgic accident. She was going with an older classmate. I believe two years our senior, which was common practice back then. They had the cars, maturity or perhaps experience that we younger classmates did not have.
She was the first lesson for the need for seat belts. Sitting close to her mate in the middle of the front seat. They were involved in a horrific accident. Judy crashed into the mirror and had to go through numerous plastice surgeries.
What a hardship for any young person. Yet, once again. Judy was true grit. Never complaintd or cried poor me. She was Holy Redeemer tough.
One of the most memerable times of my grade school years was our 8th grade talent show. Myself always acting out and showing off to disrupt any classroom for attention. Never had the courage or guts to get on stage. But their I was up front to heckle those who had courage and talent.
And when Judy came on stage and sang "Blue Moon". I never heard such a beautiful voice in all my life. Years passing Blue Moon was not a common song once Rock-in-Roll hit the scene. But occasionally I'd hear it and always thought of beautiful Judy Sabo, singing her heart out. And touching my heart.
