Members of the Class of 1969, along with family and friends have worked very hard to raise funds to create a baseball field in Angel Garcia's memory.
That effort came to fruition on Saturday May 2nd, 2009. The hardball field at Clark Park was renovated with the funds and the field was dedicated to Angel Garcia.
An athletic complex named after Angel was built adjoining Western International High School on Scotten St.

Age 56. May 9, 2007 of Southgate. Formerly of Detroit. Beloved husband of Maria. Loving Pops of Angel III, David and Sofia. Dearest son of Celia and the late Angel. Brother of Carole, Arturo (Lety), Rebeca (Arturo), Leticia and Elizabeth (Robert). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Service Monday 11 a.m. at The Allen Park Chapel - Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 10915 Allen Rd. (corner of Goddard) to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Detroit, 12 Noon Mass. Visitation Saturday 5-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-9 p.m. Rosary Sunday 5 p.m. Interment Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Brownstown Township, MI.
